    Neighbors Emergency Center Port Arthur Marks First Year of Service to Local Community with Toy, Clothing Drive

    HOUSTON, Texas, November 16, 2016 – The Neighbors Emergency Center Port Arthur, TX location is pleased to recognize its first year of service to the local community. Neighbors Emergency Center Port Arthur began seeing patients November 21, 2015 and reports more than 4,400 patients have received premiere emergency medical care at this location over the last year. The Port Arthur center is located at 3330 Highway 365. The center’s phone number is 409-722-9554.

    Over the last year this center received the Gold Seal of Approval by The Joint Commission, a nationally recognized independent accreditation organization committed to certifying facilities with the safest, highest quality, best-value health care.

    To celebrate the first year of service to the Port Arthur community, Neighbors is sponsoring a toy drive November 1-21 to benefit CASA of Southeast Texas. The community is asked to drop off new or gently used toys at Neighbors Port Arthur for infants, toddlers, and teenagers. CASA will visit Neighbors on November 21 to pick up the donation. Neighbors will also host a CASA Clothing Tree November 28 to December 16. The community is encouraged to select an ornament on the Neighbors CASA tree with a needy child’s name, clothing, and shoe sizes to help make the holidays brighter for an underprivileged child in Southeast Texas.

    Besides personalized ER care with short wait times, Neighbors has also brought approximately 30 jobs to the area economy by hiring local board-certified physicians and medical teams with emergency room experience that treat all adult and pediatric emergencies. The Port Arthur location’s Medical Director is Steven Downie, MD, and the location’s Facility Director is Ashley DeMary. Neighbors is a product of the community with doctors, nurses, and medical teams living near the centers they work, therefore, being in tune with community news, events and people.

    “We are excited and honored to have been able to serve this community for the last year,” stated Dr. Downie. “We are part and parcel of the Golden Triangle medical community and maintain a strong relationship with the medical community at large. We strive to serve our patients with the utmost expertise, kindness and courtesy.”

    Neighbors prides itself on active community involvement. In Port Arthur, Neighbors has been privileged to participate in local events that benefit health and wellness, local youth and families, and education.

    Neighbors Port Arthur has supported many non-profit organizations such as the Jefferson County Sherriff’s Association “Cops Helping Kids” Saltwater Fishing Tournament that benefitted the Garth House, the BASF Total Live United 5k Run/Walk that benefitted the United Way of Mid-South Jefferson County, and recently was the named sponsor for the Neighbors Emergency Center Pleasure Island Bridge Half Marathon and 10k.

    In the community, Neighbors Port Arthur sponsored the Sabine Causeway 5k, participated in the Nederland Heritage Festival, and the Monsters in the Park event with the Nederland Parks and Recreation Department. Neighbors is also a member of the Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce.

    To support education, Neighbors Port Arthur is an education partner with Hillcrest Elementary School and sponsored the Character Counts program, the End of Year Field Day, the Back 2 School Bash, and last month’s Red Ribbon Week. Neighbors has also supported Memorial High School’s Project Graduation, Sam Houston Elementary School’s Dr. Seuss Reading Day and Parade, and the Hebert Public Library Summer Reading Program at Port Neches Library.

    Neighbors Emergency Center Port Arthur has also supported local sports at Lamar State College Port Arthur Seahawks Athletics, the Memorial High School Baseball Team, the Gulf Coast Youth Soccer League, and the Nederland Youth Football Association.
